Some of our vehicles are equipped with all-season tires, easily identifiable by the ❄️ emoji.
If you're planning to travel to one of the 34 departments located in mountainous areas (Alps, Massif Central, Jura, Pyrenees, Vosges) between November 1 and March 31, you must have one of the following:
Snow chains or snow socks in your trunk,
Tires suitable for driving on snow.
Failure to have one of these items can result in a €135 fine (under Mountain Law II) and put you in a dangerous situation in case of snowfall.
Vehicles with the ❄️ emoji at Jool are equipped with 3PMSF tires (which stands for "Three Peak Mountain Snow Flake"), the standard required by the Mountain Law. These tires allow you to drive safely on snowy roads without the need for chains.
By choosing these vehicles, you can drive confidently, without the risk of a fine and in comfort (no need to stop and put chains on a vehicle you're not familiar with).
If you're traveling to one of the 34 departments affected by Mountain Law II, we strongly recommend selecting one of our vehicles with the ❄️ emoji.
Here’s the map of the affected departments:
